Misuse of Revelation 11:18 on the oil spill in the gulf

Revelation 11:18 The nations were angry; and your wrath has come. The time has come for judging the dead, and for rewarding your servants the prophets and your saints and those who reverence your name, both small and great -- and for destroying those who destroy the earth."

Notice the differences between the NIV and a person's formatting and the King James:

Revelation 11:18 And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth.

Someone is trying to use Revelation 11:18 as a pretext to suggest God is angry and will come back to judge us. I think the interpretation has an 85% chance of being wrong because it is talking about the main land as opposed to the sea or water.

1) arable land

2) the ground, the earth as a standing place

3) the main land as opposed to the sea or water

4) the earth as a whole

a) the earth as opposed to the heavens

b) the inhabited earth, the abode of men and animals

Still no word on how the nations being angry fit into this as it isn't on everyone's shores yet.
